嘿嘿视频 Art Lecture Series starts Thursday
This fall a painter/educator, a ceramicist/alumna and a curator/scholar discuss their work and careers in the 嘿嘿视频 Art Studio Visiting Artist Lecture Series at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art.
The series begins on Thursday, Oct. 3 with Yevgeniya Baras. A painter whose work has been exhibited in several New York City galleries as well as internationally, Baras has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Pollock-Krasner grant in 2019. Her work has been reviewed in the New York Times, LA Times, ArtForum and Art in America. She has a current solo exhibition at Reyes Projects, Detroit, and will show at the Landing Gallery in Los Angeles next year. She teaches at Rhode Island School of Design and Sarah Lawrence College.
If you missed artist Kathy Butterly at the fall opening celebration last week, you can catch her again on Nov. 7 in this series of discussions. She received her MFA from 嘿嘿视频 in 1990, and was one of Robert Arneson鈥檚 last students. She has exhibited internationally and her art is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art; The Detroit Institute of Arts; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the de Young Museum, San Francisco. She has received a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grant, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, and a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant. Her first retrospective, 鈥淜athy Butterly | ColorForm,鈥 is at the Manetti Shrem Museum through Dec. 29.
The series is organized by the Department of Art and Art History studio faculty and Master of Fine Arts studio art candidates. All lectures are free, open to the public and begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Manetti Shrem Museum鈥檚 Community Education Room.

Call for submissions: community-engaged designers, planners, due Thursday Oct. 4
Imagining America shares that "CoPED, Collective of Publicly Engaged Designers, welcomes individuals from community-based organizations, higher education institutions, and non-profits who are involved in publicly engaged design to contribute to the case study project.
They are soliciting projects to use as case studies to develop best practices for community-engaged work. Submit a case study . To be considered for discussion at the 2019 Gathering submit by Thursday.
