Arneson鈥檚 'The Palace at 9 a.m' subject of museum talk

Saturday, Oct. 19, 2:30 p.m.

  • The Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, 嘿嘿视频, invites you to join in a lively conversation about Robert Arneson鈥檚 Alice series and the making of 鈥淭he Palace at 9 a.m.,鈥  the centerpiece of the exhibition Landscape Without Boundaries. In conversation with Founding Director Rachel Teagle, the artist鈥檚 widow, Sandra Shannonhouse, will share her perspectives on the importance of this series as well as her personal reflections on the 嘿嘿视频 and Bay Area art scene in which she and Arneson were active participants.

Shinkoskey Noon Concert: Trois Bois鈥 Madrigals and Pastorales, Recital Hall, Ann E. Pitzer Center, Thursday Oct. 17, 12:05- 1 p.m., free

  • This week鈥檚 Shinkoskey Noon Concert, Trois Bois trio performing Madrigals and Pastorales. This concert of wind trios from the 20th century and the Renaissance features David Granger, lecturer in music, on the bassoon, along with Laura Reynolds on the oboe and Patricia Shands on the clarinet.

Performance by Luca Pisaroni and Jonathan Ware, Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, Thursday Oct. 17, 8 p.m.

  • Italian bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni, one of the most charismatic and versatile singers performing today, shares his distinct talent with the Mondavi Center audience. He will be accompanied by Jonathan Ware on the piano.

Performance by B茅la Fleck, Edgar Meyer, Zakir Hussain, and Rakesh Chaurasia, Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, Friday Oct. 18, 8 p.m.

  • There鈥檚 a bit of the sorcerer in B茅la Fleck (banjo), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Edgar Meyer (double bass), and their special guest Rakesh Chaurasia (bansuri 鈥 Indian flute).  Most musicians hope at most for proficiency in their chosen form, but these gentlemen move from bluegrass to Western classical.

Costume Sale, Drawing, and Silent Auction at the Enchanted Cellar Saturday

Friday, Oct. 18 to Saturday, Oct. 19

  • The Enchanted Cellar at 嘿嘿视频 will be having a sale, drawing, and silent auction this weekend for their stock of Halloween costumes. According to their Facebook event information, the Cellar will be open 11 a.m. until 8 p.m both Saturday and Sunday. Wright Hall Basement on the Davis campus.

We Are Here: A Festival of Contemporary Native American Art at Crocker

Sunday Oct. 20, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., free

  • The Crocker Art Museum invites you to 鈥渆xperience and celebrate Native American art, culture, and traditions during this afternoon of dancing, music, art demonstrations, hands-on activities, gallery interactives, and a Native artisan marketplace.鈥 This festival celebrates two exhibitions currently at the Crocker: When I Remember I See Red: American Indian Art and Activism in California and Pueblo Dynasties: Master Potters from Matriarchs to Contemporaries.
