Hear about Punjabi Poetry
Nikki-Guninder Kaur Singh, an author and professor at Colby College, Maine, will discuss and maybe even recite a little Punjabi poetry at the Buehler Alumni Center, 嘿嘿视频, at 7 p.m. Friday, April 27.
Singh鈥檚 interests focus on poetics and feminist issues. She has published extensively in the field of Sikhism.

When the Pedrito Martinez Group takes the stage, a wave of pure energy embraces the audience. A tireless, incomparable performer, Cuban percussionist and singer Martinez heads a band whose sole mission is to raise the roof and share in the infectious joy of music making. Martinez has worked with a who鈥檚 who of musicians including Paul Simon, Eddie Palmieri, Sting and Wynton Marsalis, the latter of whom considers Martinez a 鈥済enius鈥 and revelation to work with.

Sketchcrawl in the Arboretum
Meet on the south steps of Mrak Hall at 10:30 a.m., then set off along the Arboretum Waterway where you may want to sketch recent improvements in the east end: new concrete weirs that allow for a gentle flow of water, banks restored to a more natural look with new plantings, and new pathways.
Free and open to all, children included. All you need is something to draw with and something to draw on. Also consider brings a snack or two and perhaps a lightweight stool (because you may not find a bench where you want to draw). Meet back on the Mrak Hall steps to share at 1:30 p.m.
Drop in at the art studio at Manetti Shrem
If you are into experimenting, getting your hands sticky and trying something new, Saturday drop-in are designed for you. Fun-loving, courageous and inquisitive explorers of all ages are invited to try out a range of materials and processes. Weekly questions will be presented to energize your thinking and creativity.
And, whether you are an experienced painter or a first-time mark-maker, come and explore working from life. Basics provided 鈥 costumed models, paints, charcoal, canvas boards 鈥 and you bring the ideas. Learn life drawing and painting techniques from our in-house artists, or follow your own creative path.
