Do you want to connect with people from all over the world? Spanish is the official language of more than 20 countries in the world. The Spanish major program assures proficiency in all four language skills — speaking, understanding, reading and writing — and acquaints students with the intellectual and cultural contributions of the Spanish-speaking world through a study of its language, literature and cultural traditions.
Major Requirements
A major in Spanish allows you to develop fluency in written and spoken Spanish as well as gain familiarity with the literature and culture of the Hispanic world. Elementary and intermediate courses hone your skills and prepare you for advanced study of the language and of major Spanish-language literary works. You are encouraged to enrich your experience with study in a Spanish-speaking country through the . You may also choose to double major with another program such as Chicanx studies, linguistics, international relations, comparative literature or economics.
