The Davis Division of the Academic Senate is taking nominations for its annual round of faculty awards:
DISTINGUISHED SCHOLARLY PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD
Recognizing the unpaid, focused and sustained direct extension of the recipient’s disciplinary or technical expertise to the public and nonprofit sector, resulting in significant contributions to the world, nation, state and-or local community.
All tenured members of the Academic Senate are eligible, including professors-in-residence and professors of clinical (specialty) at the level of associate professor or higher, and lecturers with security of employment. Nominees must not have previously received a Distinguished Scholarly Public Service Award.
Up to four awards are given, with the committee choosing the recipient or recipients from among nominations submitted by members of the Academic Senate. Nominations due by 5 p.m. Nov. 15.
FACULTY RESEARCH LECTURE AWARD
The Davis Division accords no higher honor to its members, sponsoring a public lecture by the recipient — recognizing his or her scholarly research, chiefly for efforts carried out while a member of the Davis faculty. The nominees should have been at Davis for at least 10 years.
Each Academic Senate member may nominate or endorse only one candidate. Nominations due by 5 p.m. Nov. 19.
DISTINGUISHED TEACHING AWARDS
Nominations are welcome from any member of the academic community: students, faculty, staff, alumni, departments and units. Successful nominations provide student and faculty perspectives.
The teaching awards are given in two categories:
- Undergraduate teaching
- Graduate and professional teaching
Eligibility extends to all members of the Academic Senate, including assistant, associate and full professors, emeriti and lecturers (100 percent) with security of employment. Normally, a candidate must have taught at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ for at least four years to be considered. No nominee shall have been a previous recipient of a Distinguished Teaching Award.
Nominations due by 5 p.m. Jan. 7.
