Graduate Studies will launch the new with special activities — all virtual — including workshops, a tour of The Graduate Center, and an open house for faculty and staff. Read the Dateline story about the GradPathways Institute.
Hugh Kearns, a lecturer at Australia’s Flinders University and a leading practitioner and researcher in cognitive behavioral coaching, will return to ٺƵ to present a workshop titled “7 Secrets of Highly Successful Ph.D.s and Masters Students.” Open to ٺƵ graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, the workshop will be held from 2 to 4 pm. Thursday, Oct. 15.
All require advance registration. They include:
- Open house for faculty and staff, noon-1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12.
- Interactive workshop in which participants can sample minisessions on one of four topics: leadership and management, financial literacy, presentation skills, or career management. 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13.
- Advance tour of The Graduate Center at historic Walker Hall, which will host institute events when such gatherings can happen in person. Scheduled to open in January 2021, the center will provide meeting and working space for graduate students, and Graduate Studies as well as the Graduate Student Association and Postdoctoral Scholar Association. Noon-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
- Weeklong scavenger hunt in which graduate students and postdoctoral scholars learn about the institute’s offerings as they compete for institute swag. Beginning Monday, Oct. 12.
