REGENT JOHN MOORES RESIGNS: UC Regent John Moores resigned Nov. 12 from the Board of Regents. His resignation was effective immediately.
Moores was appointed in March 1999 by then-Gov. Gray Davis to a term on the Board of Regents expiring in March 2009. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will appoint a successor to complete the remainder of Moores' term.
Moores, of San Diego, is chairman of the San Diego Padres baseball club and of JMI Services. He also serves as chair of the board of trustees for the Carter Center.
The Board of Regents consists of 26 members. Two faculty members sit on the board as non-voting members, and two staff advisers serve as non-voting advisors to two regents' committees.
OPEN ENROLLMENT ENDS NOV. 27: Employees have until midnight Nov. 27 to complete the open enrollment process for health care and other benefits for 2008.

MARK TWAIN PROJECT NOW ONLINE: UC recently launched the beta version of the Mark Twain Project Online, a digital, critical edition of the writings of Mark Twain.
The site offers access to texts, notes and recently discovered letters and documents of Twain's. It is a joint undertaking of the Mark Twain Papers and Project, the California Digital Library and University of California Press.
