Toilet tycoon Caldwell B. Cladwell (Jesse Merz) gives his daughter Hope (Emma Goldin) a lesson on how to 'manipulate great masses of people,' in <i>Urinetown, the Musical</i>.

TOILET TYCOON: Jesse Merz plays toilet tycoon Caldwell B. Cladwell in Urinetown, the Musical, a Department of Theatre and Dance production continuing at 8 p.m. May 25 and 26, and May 31-June 2, and 2 p.m. June 2-3, in Main Theatre.

NEW MUSIC FROM DAVIS: The Empyrean Ensemble next week plans to present a concert titled New Music from Davis, featuring compositions by ºÙºÙÊÓƵ graduate students Nathan Davis, Sue-Hye Kim, Scott Miller, Carolyn O'Brien, Karen Sunabacka, Ching-Yi Wang and Jonathan Wilkes. The concert is set for 8 p.m. May 30 in the Studio Theatre at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. A preconcert talk, Demystifying the Music, is set to begin at 7 p.m.

CRADLE-TO-CRADLE DESIGN: Students enrolled in Environmental Consciousness Design are organizing a two-day exhibit of their work -- items made from post-consumer products, including bicycle inner tubes, neckties, cardboard, car parts and containers. The exhibit also will include other environmentally sustainable items, either donated or purchased, including paper, textiles, carpet, flooring and shopping bags.

The exhibition of so-called cradle-to-cradle design is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 31 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 1 in the East Conference Room on the first floor of the Memorial Union. A reception is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. May 31.
