April 9, Wednesday -- Science author and broadcaster Timothy Ferris will host a screening of his film, "Seeing in the Dark," in the ARC Ballroom, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Adapted from his book of the same title, "Seeing in the Dark" explores how Ferris and other amateur astronomers are helping to make new discoveries about the universe. It was first aired on PBS last year. Ferris is a former reporter and editor of Rolling Stone magazine, and regularly contributes to The New Yorker and The New York Review of Books. He has written 11 books and written and narrated two specials for public television, in addition to "Seeing in the Dark." He is also a professor emeritus at UC Berkeley. Ferris comes to ºÙºÙÊÓƵ as part of the College of Letters and Science Deans' Speaker Series. He will give a short talk before the film and will be available to sign books after the event. The event is free and open to the public.
