Military pay policy extended
The UC Office of the President announced another extension of the university’s policy on supplemental pay for employees who take military leave for the purpose of serving in the U.S. war on terror.
The policy had been due to expire on June 30; the expiration date is now June 30, 2012.
Under the policy, UC makes up the difference in pay for employees who earn less in the military than they do at the university. In addition, UC continues to pay the employer’s share health plan premiums for employees who are called to active duty.
For any employee who is called to active duty or who enlists, and who does not receive supplemental pay, the university continues to pay its share of costs for the employee’s health plan premiums, provided the employee pays his or her share as well.
UC’s supplemental pay and benefits coverage is subject to a two-year lifetime limit, retroactive to Dec. 14, 2001, the date the policy took effect. Three months earlier, on Sept. 11, terrorist attacks in commandeered jetliners killed nearly 3,000 people at the World Trade Center in New York City, at the Pentagon outside Washington, D.C., and in a Pennsylvania field.

Making lists the Sympa way
The campus's transition from Listproc to Sympa software, for e-mail list management, is under way:
