Business Officer Institute
Staff Development and Professional Services is taking nominations for UC’s next Business Officer Institute, Dec. 1-3, in Newport Beach.
The institute is for people who have broad responsibility for the administrative functions of either an academic or administrative department, or have responsibility for key areas of budget, finance, internal controls, human resources, information technology and-or sponsored projects.

Alumni nominations
The Cal Aggie Alumni Association is inviting nominations for new members of the association’s board of directors. “We are looking for CAAA members who have demonstrated their commitment to the association and to the campus,” said George Walker, chair of the Nominating Committee.

Fire officer returns
Assistant Fire Chief Wes Arvin is back from a wildfire assignment in Southern California.
He led a Yolo County strike team that worked for four days on the mammoth Station fire in the Angeles National Forest. Arvin and 20 firefighters returned safe and sound on Sept. 11. The team comprised five trucks, one each from the city of Davis, Woodland, Willow Oak (outside of Woodland), West Sacramento and the Rumsey Rancheria.
Earlier this month, four ٺƵ firefighters worked on the Glen Oak 3 wildfire in Southern California. They returned safe and sound on Sept. 4.
Neighbors Night Out
ٺƵ, the Associated Students and the city of Davis are once again organizing Neighbors Night Out — an opportunity for city residents and students to get acquainted early in the new academic year.
This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11. Neighbors Night Out comprises block parties all over town, put together by neighborhood associations.
Party sponsors pick the time that works best for them and their neighbors, from noon to 9 p.m. Activities may include barbecues or potluck dinners, ice cream socials, cake bakes or cookie exchanges.

Blue Devil football
Aggie Stadium is the venue for Davis High School football today (Sept. 18) vs. Del Campo and Thursday, Sept. 24, vs. Wood. Last week’s Dateline gave an incorrect day and date for the Wood games (frosh, junior varsity and varsity).
ٺƵ is allowing Davis High free use of Aggie Stadium while the Blue Devils’ stadium is being renovated.
Kickoff times for Davis High football in Aggie Stadium are3 p.m. for the frosh, 5 p.m. for the JV and 7:15 p.m. for the varsity. Gates open at 2:30 p.m.
