CAMPUS TO HOST BEAUSOLEIL

The Beausoleil sextet is next up in SummerMusic 2007, a series of free concerts on the Quad. Beausoleil, widely considered the most esteemed group in Cajun music, is scheduled to perform on Aug. 1. Mixing the rich Creole and Cajun traditions of Louisiana with zydeco, New Orleans jazz, blues, Tex-Mex, and more, Beausoleil has recorded more than 30 albums and toured extensively in the United States and around the world. The group's albums include the 1997 Grammy-winning L'amour Ou La Folie. Other awards include a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts for Beausoleil founder Michael Doucet. He plays fiddle in Beausoleil, and he is joined by Jimmy Breaux on accordion, David Doucet on guitar, Al Tharp on bass and second fiddle, drummer Tommy Alesi, and percussionist Billy Ware. Summer-
