Campus shifts administrative resources

The campus is likely to decide in September on a broad reorganization of its key administrative support functions.

The proposed changes would affect about 1,390 employees in the Office of Resource Management and Planning and the Office of Administration. The goal is to create a single administrative division for all the municipal-like campus services that support the campus’s academic and research mission, including business and finance, planning and infrastructure, safety and health, and human resources functions.

As part of the first phase of this reorganization, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ has formed two new divisions:

• Design and Construction Services brings together functions involved in the campus’s capital improvement program, specifically the Architects and Engineers division and the Project Management Department of Facilities Management. (Design and Construction Services is a working title.)

• Campus Planning and Land Management consolidates the campus's planning and environmental management operations, including Campus Planning, the Buildings and Grounds division, the ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Arboretum and the Putah Creek Reserve. (Campus Planning and Land Management is a working title.)

The genesis for these units was the 2008 realignment of OOA and ORMP in which Architects and Engineers and Facilities Management were transferred to ORMP.

A proposed plan for the broader administrative reorganization, which is being done on an expedited process, will be presented to the chancellor in September.
