Chancellor’s Statement on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11

Chancellor Gary S. May issued the following statement today (Sept. 9):

On this 20th anniversary of 9/11, we remember how our world changed nearly overnight. We remember the terrible loss of life and the destruction unleashed that day. Those following weeks, months and years shaped our perceptions of the world and our place in it. It affected how we relate to one another. It caused us to reflect on how we want to move forward as citizens of the world and as community membersHere at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ, wreminded one another that prejudice and hatred do not belong in our community. We reached out to those who may have felt ostracized or unwelcome

One of the greatest outcomes of 9/11 is our willingness to come together in both good and difficult times. As we commemorate the tragedy of 20 years ago, l±ð³Ù’s&²Ô²ú²õ±è;also continue to strive for kindness and compassion. Let’s continue to value and respect our various perspectives, backgrounds and experiencesUndoubtedly we will experience other events that will shape our lives, including how we emerge from our current public health crisis. We have set a strong foundation to build upon. Let’s remain united in our efforts for positive change.
