CLASSIC MUSE

The Department of Music's free Noon Concerts in October are taking place in the lobby of the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts — a new venue for the weekly music series. The Mondavi Center offered to host the concerts as a way to draw more members of the campus community to the center, where they can enjoy the music, take a tour and pick up brochures for the Mondavi Center's 2007-08 season. Pictured are Justin Montigne, countertenor, and Jenny Lee, piano, in their Oct. 4 program titled "Other Muse." Montigne, the artistic director of a Bay Area men's ensemble, teaches voice at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ. Lee is a recent ºÙºÙÊÓƵ graduate with a degree in international relations and music. The last two lobby concerts are set for Oct. 18 (with Aleck Karis, piano, playing late music by Chopin) and Oct. 25 (with Patrick O'Connell, guitar, playing works by Mauro Giuliani, Manuel María Ponce, Lennox Berkeley and Joaquín Turina. The concerts start at 12:05 p.m., and Mondavi Center tours are set for 12:30 p.m. Free Noon Concerts in November and December are set to take place in Main Theatre or 115 Music Building.
