Nov. 7, Wednesday -- Gert Kaiser, a leading European medievalist with a specialization in Middle High German Literature, will deliver a Max Kade Foundation Lecture on "Death and the Maiden" at 5 p.m. in 912 Sproul Hall on the ºÙºÙÊÓƵ campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Kaiser is the fall 2007 Max Kade Distinguished Visiting Professor in the German Department at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ. The New York-based foundation sponsors programs to benefit select German departments throughout the United States.
Kaiser is director of the Center for Advanced Research in Nordrhein/Westfalen, Germany. He is known for his work on the medieval dance of death and is an acknowledged expert on German lyrical poetry of the High Middle Ages.
