The series of storms battering the region lately have taken a toll on the campus's trees, soaking the ground and then blowing over several large specimens. The campus was well prepared for the onslaught of rain, but the sustained deluge combined with strong winds led to a situation campus crews were unable to prevent.
鈥淭he soil鈥檚 just so wet 鈥 there鈥檚 not much we can do when the wind blows like this,鈥 said Cary Avery, who leads Grounds and Landscape Services.

Elsewhere on campus, life continued on as the rain battered students, faculty and staff.
And the weather wasn鈥檛 able to keep donors away from a winter blood drive that came in the midst of a shortage of blood donations.
