THE DOWNLOAD: Calm Meadow, Feeding the Less Fortunate

Swaying grasses. Grazing sheep. The sights and sounds of this campus meadow bring a sense of calmness to Cooperative Extension Specialist Leslie Roche. As director of UC Rangelands, she’s assessing real-world practices for grassland restoration and management. The open space serves as an important landscape for the plants and animals she works to protect. See above for episode three of Thought/Space, a College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences video series about the special places that faculty, staff and students have found at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ.

Feeding the less fortunate

The nutritious, award-winning meals enjoyed by ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Medical Center patients are now being served at a local nonprofit health care organization to people who are experiencing homelessness. The daily meal service is provided by ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Health at no cost to the newly opened WellSpace Health Gregory Bunker Care Transitions Center of Excellence, a dormitory-like setting in South Sacramento where homeless people recover from illness after being discharged from area hospitals. About 15,000 meals have been provided since the service began in March.
