AN EXHIBITION AND A GATHERING

The is presenting Visual Sovereignty: International Indigenous Photography — a conference April 4-5 and an exhibition opening April 3 and running through Sept. 4.

The “gathering,” or conference, comprises artist panel sessions on the following topics: “Establishing Visual Sovereignty — Documentary Works by Pathbreakers,” “Political Perspectives,” “Indigenous Studio and Portraiture,” “Visioning Landscapes and Communities” and “Altered Realties.” These sessions are free and open to the public.

The photo exhibition, featuring the works of 35 Native American, First Nations, Inuit, Aboriginal and Maori artists, is scheduled to open with a reception at 5 p.m. April 3, free and open to the public.
