May 6, Thursday -- Central Valley farmer and author of "Epitaph for a Peach" David Mas Masumoto will talk about "Writing Rural." A graduate of ºÙºÙÊÓƵ, Masumoto is a third-generation Californian who farms organic peaches and grapes south of Fresno. In his newest book, "Four Seasons in Five Senses" (2004), Masumoto, who calls himself a "slow farmer," details his intimate connection to the land through stories about his ancient truck or a walk through his orchard. An upcoming collection of his essays, "Letters to the Valley, Harvest of Memories," will be published this fall. Sponsored by the Pacific Regional Humanities Center at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ, the talk will begin at noon in Room 217 of the Art Building.
