The ٺƵ Farmers Market returns for spring quarter in a new location at the northwest corner of the Quad.

The is going back to where it began: the Quad!

Opening day is this Wednesday (April 1). Shop for produce, meet your friends, buy a snack or lunch from a vendor — from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday through June 3.

The market is moving from its home for the last two years, the Silo Patio next to Silo South. That building is in line for renovation, and the farmers market space will be part of the construction zone.

The new location is the north end of the Quad. Most weeks the market will be in the northwest corner; there will be a few weeks when the market will be in the northeast corner.

The market began as the East Quad Farmers Market in 2006 and has been operating most every fall and spring quarter since then — offering students, staff and faculty alike a convenient place to pick up fresh produce. Organizers describe the market as “a symbol of ٺƵ’ commitment to sustainability and healthy lifestyles.”

The vendors lineup for this spring includes the ٺƵ Student Farm, Ariza Farms, Mt. Moriah Farms, Schletewitz Family Farm, Toledo Farms and Bullfrog Farms. (Remember, the farmers market is a zero-waste event, so don’t forget to bring reusable bags.)

Other vendors will serve lunch, or you can grab a meal in the nearby Coffee House. The CoHo will also have a booth at the farmers market, selling “CoHomemade” pastries and coffee for just $1 each.

Sponsors: Dining Services, Coffee House, ٺƵ Stores, Student Health and Counseling Services, Student Housing, and Campus Recreations and Unions, as well as the Davis Farmers Market Association.

Friends and supporters: the waste reduction team from the Office of Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability; Health Education and Promotion, part of Student Health and Counseling Services; Occupational Health Services; Staff Assembly; the ASUCD’s Campus Center for the Environment, and Environmental Policy and Planning Commission; Student Nutrition Association; and KDVS.
