TRY THE ARC: The Activities and Recreation Center announced its Fall Try Before You Buy event, Sept. 22-Oct. 3. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, retirees and student affiliates can enjoy complimentary group fitness classes, including dance and martial arts, and a comprehensive range of equipment and resources at the ARC. Capacity for some group exercise classes is limited; access is on a space-available basis.
Current ºÙºÙÊÓƵ students always have access to the ARC at no charge. ºÙºÙÊÓƵ faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, and affiliates may purchase a monthly, quarterly, or annual ARC membership. Current university employees may enjoy the ARC for less than $1 per day by enrolling in the ARC's payroll deduction option of $28.33 each month for an annual membership. ARC members also enjoy discounts on other Campus Recreation programming, including the Craft Center, Outdoor Adventures, and Equestrian Center.
ACTIVE AGGIES: Staff members are invited to join Active Aggies, a group scheduled to meet after work three times weekly during the fall quarter for walking, jogging and running, plus training and nutrition tips.
Team training like this is a great way to motivate yourself to exercise, said Active Aggies organizer Bob Wachter, injury prevention specialist on the Davis campus. And you can go at your own pace, he said.
ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Sports Medicine interns will lead the training.
Active Aggies sessions are scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting Sept. 23.
The cost is $30 for the quarter, with participants eligible to compete for $500 in prizes -- for Active Aggies only -- in the Davis Turkey Trot, Nov. 22.
Meeting place is the southwest side of Toomey Field, just north of the North Entry garage.
