ºÙºÙÊÓƵ’ summer concert series on the Quad is set to begin July 9 with a performance by Carolyn Wonderland, a blues artist who mixes in elements of country, swing, zydeco, surf and other genres. She plays guitar and trumpet, and she is a singer and songwriter.

SummerMusic 2007 consists of three concerts, all free and open to the public. Picknickers are welcome starting at 6:30 p.m., and the music is set to begin at 7:30. No alcholic beverages are permitted.

The remainder of the SummerMusic 2007 schedule:

• Aug. 1 -- The Beausoleil sextet, mixing the rich Creole and Cajun traditions of Louisiana with zydeco, New Orleans jazz, blues, Tex-Mex and more. Beausoliel has recorded more than 30 albums, including the 1997 Grammy-winning L'amour Ou La Folie. Founder Michael Doucet is the recipient of a National Heritage Fellowship.

• Aug. 21 -- Grupo Fantasma, hailed by the Pop Culture Press as "one of the all-time great Texas dance bands." The 11-member Grupo Fantasma's sound -- from a double rhythm section and four horns -- encompasses contemporary and traditional Latin music influences. The group has opened for a wide range of artists including Los Lobos, Flaco Jimenez, Patti Smith and KRS-One. Grupo Fantasma's honors include a 2005 Univision Award as best Latin rock group.
