A 'GENEROUS' FOOD DRIVE

Mail Services employees collected more than mail on their routes around the main campus and at the health system in mid-November. The extra something in mail bins was food to be donated to Yolo County and Sacramento food banks. Jen Lawrence is pictured with some of the haul of 400 pounds from the main campus, where she is general manager of Distribution Services. The health system mail crew brought in some 1,000 pounds of canned goods and other nonperishables. Lawrence started the food drive three years ago when she worked at the health system, and, after skipping a year, she brought it back and hopes to make it an annual event. 鈥淲e have a generous group of people that work here at 嘿嘿视频,鈥 she said. She borrowed the combination mail collection and food drive idea from her days as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, which asks people once a year to set out food donations at mailboxes. 鈥淚t makes it convenient for people to donate,鈥 she said. Mail Services personnel make it just as easy on the main campus and at the health system, simply collecting food donations with each day鈥檚 mail for a full week. The food drive ended Nov. 16.
