GOING SOLO: M.F.A. acting candidates present 2 free shows

Four Master of Fine Arts candidates in acting are on the program for this year’s Solo Explorations, presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance to acknowledge the creativity by which each performer devises a solo work from the interplay of his or her body, a compelling theme and challenging text.

Amy Louise Cole — Music, While Drowning is an exploration of the German Expressionist performance aesthetic as translated on the contemporary actor’s body.

Brett Duggan — Black Out: A Dark Comedy is a character study of the alcoholic personality, in this case a librettist searching for answers.

James Marchbanks — The Art of Everyday Life, aimed at bridging the gap between the performer and the spectator.

Anne Reeder — Cigarettes and Milk, a physical theatre piece in which the audience meets a woman at the culmination of a struggle between her need for control and her desire for chaos.
