Indoor Dining Returns to Campus April 12

Guests can pull up a chair and eat inside many campus eateries starting Monday (April 12). The Silo, Scrubs Café, and Sage Street Market and Café in West Village will have limited indoor seating, along with the Tercero and Segundo dining commons.

Only meal plan holders can eat inside the two dining commons, although anyone can purchase food to-go there.

Extra safety precautions have been added to keep indoor diners safe, like disinfecting tables after each use. The overall capacity will vary depending on the location — some eateries will be limited to 25% or 50% of normal capacity, and some will allow up to 100 patrons in at any one time.

Indoor dining has been permitted in Yolo County since the county moved to the red, or “substantial” tier, but Dining Services officials waited until the county’s March 23 improvement to the orange, or “moderate” tier, and can now accommodate slightly more customers in each eatery.

This is the first time guests will be able to eat inside the Silo since it closed for a new roof and other renovations in 2019.

The Coffee House remains closed, and director Darin Schluep said staff plan to reopen it this fall.
