“If you have any ‘spare’ time, it’s a great opportunity to get out of your office at lunch, plus network and have fun,” says Janna Tolla, Memorial Union director, in announcing the return of the Staff Bowling League in the MU Games Area.

Fun team names are a must, said Ferguson Mitchell, Games Area coordinator, while team cheers, banners and interpretive dances are optional. “Join us for this great opportunity to have some fun during the lunch hour and spend time with colleagues,” he said.

Two conferences are being set up for fall quarter — one that will bowl from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays, the other from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays, starting next week. The cost for 10 weeks of league play is $35, including shoes.

You can sign up solo (and be assigned to a team) or in teams of three. At the end of the season, each conference will have a championship, and the winners of both will be encouraged to participate in the vaunted “Super Bowl,” at no additional charge.

This Thursday (Oct. 4) is the last day to sign up and pay. Participants have until Monday (Oct. 7) to bowl two games to establish handicaps.

The Wednesday conference will play from Oct. 10 through the conference playoff Dec. 5, and Thursday conference from Oct. 11 through the conference playoff Dec. 6 (no bowling Thanksgiving week). The “Super Bowl” is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 12.
