Lot 3 chosen as site for temporary building

The Office of Resource Management and Planning announced that a modular building will be placed in the parking lot between Mrak Hall and King Hall. The building is expected to arrive in early June and be in place for less than a year, resulting in the loss of several A-permit parking places during that time.

The building will house a number of law school faculty and staff who have already been displaced once by the King Hall expansion and renovation project.

Most of these employees went to Kerr Hall. But now they must leave there so the university can complete the renovation of that building, for use by the departments of Political Science, Communication and Linguistics, all part of the Division of Social Sciences.

The problem is, the law school construction project is behind schedule, due to the state budget crisis. Therefore, the displaced workers cannot move back in just yet. And they need a home in the interim — hence the need for the temporary quarters in Lot 3.
