Students are “mooving” into campus housing for a very different fall quarter. Gone are the crowds, for a couple of reasons.
What used to be Moove-In Weekend is now spread over two weeks, by appointment only, to allow for physical distancing. Each student can have only one helper.
Last week saw about 600 transfer students get settled at the university’s new apartment complex, The Green at West Village. Moove-In at the residence halls is taking place this week, through Thursday (Sept. 24) — about 1,800 students in single-occupancy rooms. See how we are testing students for COVID-19 before Moove-In.
Face coverings are required, of course, and Student Housing and Dining Services staff cleaning move-in carts after each use.
Chancellor Gary S. May and LeShelle May have in past years rolled up their sleeves and helped haul guitars, clothing and other items, but COVID-19 safety measures meant the most they could do was return empty carts and welcome students to campus before they headed inside.
