The ٺƵ Health System and its Community Advisory Board are hosting their sixth annual outdoor concert on the Sacramento campus, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16.
The family-oriented event, smoke-free and alcohol-free, is free and open to the public. A kids zone with games, bounce houses, crafts and other activities.
The organizers said Sacramento’s Mercy Me! Band will perform. The dance party band plays rhythm and blues, funk and contemporary jazz favorites — from Aretha Franklin to Erykah Badu.
The concert venue is the lawn next to the Shriners hospital at 45th and X streets, part of the ٺƵ Sacramento campus. Bring blankets or lawn chairs.
Concertgoers are welcome to bring their own picnic dinners, or buy food and beverages at the event.
The annual concert is one way in which the health system thanks community members for their support, and recognizes students, faculty and staff for all of the hard work they do throughout the year.
“The annual concert has become one of our favorite ways of celebrating our pride in the health system and its strong connections to the community,” said Susan Gamage, chair of the Community Advisory Board. “We encourage families and friends to join us for some great music and summer fun.”
The board comprises 28 people — leaders in business and nonprofit organizations — who reflect the needs, beliefs and cultures of the region. Members serve six-year terms on a volunteer basis and are routinely solicited for their views and opinions on matters impacting the broader community.
