JOSE FRANCH-BALLESTER: The classical clarinetist leads off the Mondavi Center's 2008-09 Debut Series. Born in Moncofa, Spain, into a family of clarinetists and Zarzuela singers, Franch-Ballester came to the United States to attend the Curtis Institute of Music, where he graduated in 2005. He is a member of Lincoln Center's Chamber Music Society Two. 8 p.m. Nov. 8, and 2 p.m. Nov. 9, Studio Theatre.
SONG AND DANCE ENSEMBLE OF WEST AFRICA: Formed in 1970 to revive traditional rhythms, instruments, folklore and mythology, and now blending those traditions with the musical stylizations of the Western world. 8 p.m. Nov. 14, Jackson Hall.
