AT THE MONDAVI: Homeland and 'eye-popping' MOMIX

Performance artist Laurie Anderson is bringing her Homeland Tour to the Mondavi Center.

"Somewhere between epic poem and music concert, Homeland looks at 21st-century American obsessions with security, distance, information, the relationship between fear and freedom, the increasing acceptance of violence, and the persistent new language of war," according to the Mondavi Center's brochures.

Anderson's performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. Oct. 22 in Jackson Hall.

Later in the month, the Mondavi Center is scheduled to host a return visit by the uncannily athletic dancers of MOMIX. The program for this visit is titled "The Best of MOMIX," highlighting the companys 25-year history. The show is scheduled for 3 p.m. Oct. 26 in Jackson Hall. A school matinee is set for 11 a.m. Oct. 27.

MOMIX combines acrobatics, choreography, multimedia imagery and more to create a poetic and lyrical style of theater that is never short on dazzling visual effects.

The company performed Lunar Sea for a sell-out audience in Jackson Hall in October 2006. "The Best of MOMIX" includes "Moon Beams," an excerpt from Lunar Sea.

Tickets: (530) 754-2787 or (866) 754-2787, or . Educators and others interested in school matinee tickets should call (530) 754-4689.
