The Band of the Irish Guards and Royal Regiment of Scotland — Songs from the Irish countryside, highland dancers, and a tribute to U.S. armed forces. 8 p.m. March 3, Jackson Hall. Preperformance lecture by Peter Nowlen, music director, University Concert Band, 7 p.m., AGR Room, Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center.

SFJAZZ Collective — The band’s 2010 season focuses on pianist and composer Horace Silver, who kick-started the hard bop and soul-jazz movements with such tunes as “Song For My Father,” “Sister Sadie” and “Señor Blues.” 8 p.m. March 4, Jackson Hall.

Curtis On Tour — Faculty and students from the Curtis Institute of Music. Program: Curtis alumnus Samuel Barber’s String Quartet No. 11, in celebration of the centenary year of his birth; Dvorák’s Piano Quintet in A Major, op. 81; and miniatures by composition students. 8 p.m. March 6 and 2 p.m. March 7, Vanderhoef Studio Theatre. School matinee, recommended for grades 4-12, 11 a.m. March 4.
