The group Women in Sciences and Engineering held an open house Sept. 21 to welcome Chancellor Linda Katehi, left, to campus. Donna Davies presented a gift—a tape measure and leveler—to Katehi on behalf of other engineering advisers like herself. It symbolizes, Davies says, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ’ continued commitment to encouraging the success of women in engineering and the sciences. A professor of electrical and computer engineering who holds 16 patents, Katehi recently made national news on the overall issue of engineering education.
