Freshman ‘decision day’ is a Saturday event now

The decision has been made to move freshman “decision day” to a Saturday from a Friday, thus taking pressure off weekday campus parking when upwards of 5,000 prospective freshmen and their family and friends come for the day.

This year’s freshman event — officially called — is set for Saturday, April 6, about three weeks after the students received word that they had been admitted, and about a month before the May 1 deadline to submit statements of intent to register.

The campus is telling visitors of two primary parking sites: Lot 25 in front of the Activities and Recreation Center, and the west entry garage.

The organizers said registration will open at 7 a.m. in the ARC-Pavilion courtyard, and campus tours and residence hall tours will begin at 8. The Pavilion is the venue for the official welcome at 9:30 and a student panel at 10.

The four undergraduate colleges plan receptions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program also includes the Student Services and Activities Fair, and a faculty panel to close out the day, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
