Mail Services’ eighth annual Holiday Food Drive continues through Friday, Nov. 15, and donating could not be easier: Gather your donations and put them in or near your outgoing campus mail bin in your department or unit — and Mail Services personnel will do the rest.

Davis campus donations go to the Food Bank of Yolo County, Sacramento campus donations to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services.

Outdoor Adventures takes a trip of its own

has a new home, the Rec Pool Lodge. The Walter A. Buehler building has a new name. And the King Hall coffee hut has reopened in a new plaza. See slideshow at right.

The 40-year-old Outdoor Adventures, a division of , recently moved out of a building that it shared with the Bike Barn in the Silo complex. The Bike Barn will expand into the old OA space.

With the move, Outdoor Adventures gets extra room for program growth to accommodate the campus’s growing enrollment, a big front lawn for slack lining and other recreation, and a parking lot — offering convenience for people driving in to pick up or drop off equipment.

The extra room isn’t in the lodge (it’s smaller than OA’s old space), but in a free-standing warehouse to be built on the north side of the lodge, for rafts and kayaks, and climbing and camping gear. (For now, it’s being stored in containers.)

Jordy Magrid, assistant director of Campus Rec and Unions, who heads Outdoor Adventures, said the new location “will allow us to better accommodate the needs of the community while maintaining our comfortable and welcoming environment.”

Directions: The Rec Pool Lodge is just north of the Rec Pool at Hutchison Drive and La Rue Road. Parking is in Lot 30; enter via Extension Center Drive off Hutchison.
