Nominations sought for 2014 Chancellor's STAR Awards

Nominations are being accepted for the , now in its second year.

The program recognizes policy-covered MSP and PSS student and staff employees who have gone “above and beyond” in support of the campus’s core values. Each award comes with a $1,500 prize.

“I was honored to start this program a year ago because these awards recognize the excellence of our staff and their tremendous commitment to this institution,” the chancellor said. “Our staff are the best at what they do, enabling us to be a world-class university.”

Nominations are welcome from anyone in the campus community; you must use this . The submission deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7.

A selection committee will review the nominations and provide recommendations to the chancellor, who will announce the awards by year’s end.

Each nomination must focus on the nominee’s “exceptional contributions” in support of the ٺƵ mission, how he or she has set a standard of exemplary achievement, and how the nominee exhibits one or more of the campus’s core values:

  • Foster a bold and innovative spirit in our teaching, research and public service.
  • Inspire and support excellence and success in the engagement of our students, faculty, staff and alumni to learn, experiment and achieve to their full individual and collective potential.
  • Maintain the highest degree of ethical and moral conduct.
  • Be courteous in responding to requests for service and strive to exceed expectations.
  • Take pride in your work, the campus and the campus community.
  • Affirm our abiding commitment to respect and diversity.
  • Partner in economic development with those individuals, foundations, government entities, businesses and philanthropic organizations that are actively engaged in improving the economy of the region, state and nation, and the quality of life for all.
  • Promote a community characterized by respect, integrity, openness and responsiveness, and by consultation and collaboration, in which we are invested in our collective welfare and the responsible, sustainable stew­ardship of our resources.
