OPEN HOUSE APRIL 10 HERALDS MONDAVI CENTER'S NINTH SEASON

With subscription sales under way for the 2010-11 season, the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts is holding an open house April 10 for people who would like to learn more about the program and the various series, and about seating options and price levels.

The Mondavi Center also will be taking orders during the open house, which is  scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rumsey Rancheria Grand Lobby. Admission is free and open to the public.

A spokesman said staff members will be on hand to answer questions and assist with order forms.

The Mondavi Center's ninth season is set to open Sept. 29 with former secretary of State Madeleine Albright in the Distinguished Speakers Series. The first performance is set for Sept. 30: the San Francisco Symphony (with conductor Michael Tilson Thomas), performing music by Ravel, Debussy and Berlioz.

Staff and faculty receive a 30 percent discount on series (and a 25 percent discount for add-on events all through the season). 

You can also craft your own series, called a choose-your-own plan (five or more events), for which staff and faculty receive a 25 percent discount. Something new for 2010-11: With purchase of a CYO plan, staff and faculty receive a 20 percent discount for add-on events all through the season.

For students and children, the discount is 50 percent on all tickets.

Pick 3 and single-event tickets are set to go on sale to the general public on Aug. 23, and about a week earlier for staff and faculty.

Staff and faculty receive a 20 percent discount on Pick 3 plans and a 10 percent discount on single-event tickets.
