PHOTOGRAPHY: BRIDGING ART AND SCIENCE

Spring quarter saw the introduction of photography to the university's Art-Science Fusion Program, and the students' work (from Science and Society 40, with Terry Nathan as instructor) is on display from now through June 27 at the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center. The exhibition is titled Photography: Bridging Art and Science.

Rose and syringe -- Image by Deepak Yadav, Class of 2009, neurobiology, physiology and behavior major. From his artist's statement: "How is the coloring flowing? Is it flowing into the flower from the syringe or the other way around? Art and science can be thought as this cycle, where one draws from the other."

California golden poppies in the ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Arboretum -- Image by Titichayanan "Punky" Patra-Yanan, Class of 2008, food science and technology major. From her artist's statement: "What intrigued me most is how a flower with such simple design can be so artistically complex when viewed up close."
