NEW CANCER CARE TECHNOLOGIES: The ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society are joining forces to present a free forum on emerging technologies in cancer care.
The Evening with the Experts is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in the auditorium at the Cancer Center, 4501 X St., Sacramento. People wishing to attend are asked to make reservations by calling (916) 446-7933, option 3, ext. 335. The speakers and their topics:
- Frank Chuang, associate director for research and education, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Center for Biophotonics, Science and Technology, "Shining Light on Cancer: An Introduction to Biophotonics," referring to the use of light for cancer detection and noninvasive treatment options.
- Marlene von Friederichs-Fitzwater, director, Outreach Research and Education Program, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Cancer Center, "New Uses for Artificial Intelligence in Cancer Patient Education," about the use of computer-based, humanlike characters for enhanced communication with patients, specifically young adults.
RESPONSIBLE CONDUCT BROWN BAGS: A Responsible Conduct of Research seminar series is scheduled to start Nov. 6 at the health system; a similar series started in October on the main campus. Each series comprises monthly brown bags from noon to 1:30 p.m.
