A ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Army ROTC color guard raises the flag at the start of the Memorial Day observance at Davis Cemetery. Pictured are, clockwise from left, Patrick Dayton, Gordon Lake, David Darling and John Milicevich. They were accompanied by Sgt. 1st Class Keith Schmidt of the ROTC faculty. The university's ROTC program provides the color guard each year for the Davis observance, organized by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6949. Ted Puntillo, veterans service officer for Yolo County, served as master of ceremonies, and toward the end of the program, just before a bugler played taps, Puntillo read the names of 54 Davis residents lost in war. They include John Barovetto, a ºÙºÙÊÓƵ alumnus killed in 1968 in the Vietnam War. Four days earlier, the city of Davis dedicated John Barovetto Park at Alhambra Drive and Arroyo Drive in Mace Ranch.
