Scholar Talks About Backlash for South Asian Americans

March 11, Thursday -- Trinity College scholar Vijay Prashad will talk about the backlash experienced by South Asian Americans and other people of color from the Bush administration's "War on Terrorism." Prashad, an associate professor of international studies, is the author of eight books, including "The Karma of Brown Folk" (2000) and "Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting: Afro-Asian Connections and the Myth of Cultural Purity" (2001). He is on the executive board of the Center for Third World Organizing and editor of the Amerasia Journal and of The Subcontinental. Sponsored by Asian American Studies and the South Asian Student Organization, Prashad's talk is free and open to the public. It will take place at 7:30 p.m. in MU East Conference Room, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ campus.
