Updated 3:30 p.m. March 10: NeuroFest 2020 has been canceled. The organizers said the event will return next year, March 13, 2021.

The Center for Neuroscience at the University of California, Davis, presents its annual NeuroFest, 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 14, inviting the public to put their mind and senses to work learning about research into better treatments and cures for mental disorders.

The free program, 鈥淗ealthy Brain, Healthy Mind: Progress in Mental Health Research,鈥 will include presentations by four 嘿嘿视频 faculty members, and, new this year, a 鈥淣euroBlitz鈥 with Center for Neuroscience trainees, giving brief talks.

Not to mention more than a dozen learning stations and hands-on experiences for all ages. Here is a sampling of the booths:

  • Interactive 鈥 鈥淣eurons Under a Microscope,鈥 鈥淏rain Zoo,鈥 鈥淕enes: One Size Does Not Fit All鈥 and 鈥淲ork Your Body, Work Your Brain鈥)
  • Darkroom NeuroActivities 鈥 鈥淪mall-o-Vision and Lack of Vision鈥 and 鈥淭he Norms of Waveforms鈥
  • Kids Room NeuroActivities 鈥 鈥淧erception Deception,鈥 鈥淭he Misadventures of Humpty Dumpty!鈥 and 鈥淣eurogenesis: Let鈥檚 Make a Neuron!鈥

The faculty presentations:

  • 鈥淒opamine, Schizophrenia and Decision Making鈥 鈥 Randy O'Reilly, professor of psychology and computer science, Center for Neuroscience
  • 鈥淔ishing for Brain Functions in the Evolutionary Gene Pool鈥 鈥 Megan Dennis, assistant professor of biochemistry and molecular medicine, School of Medicine
  • 鈥淩eversing Synapse Dysfunction in Neuropsychiatric Disease鈥 鈥 John Gray, assistant professor neurology, Center for Neuroscience
  • 鈥淔rom Dead Heads to Depression Meds: How Psychedelics Are Impacting Modern Medicine鈥 鈥 David Olson, assistant professor of chemistry, and biochemistry and molecular biology

This is the center鈥檚 sixth annual NeuroFest; it is held in conjunction with Brain Awareness Week, a global campaign scheduled from March 16 to 22 this year.

Registration is required for NeuroFest; registration deadline extended to March 6. Note: This event can fill up fast. NeuroFest will take place at the 嘿嘿视频 Conference Center, . Free parking.
