INDIGENOUS WRITING: A hemispheric conference on indigenous writing in the Americas is scheduled from May 11 to 13 at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ, under sponsorship of the Department of Native American Studies and the Indigenous Research Center of the Americas, among other ºÙºÙÊÓƵ affiliates.
Dozens of scholars and writers from North, Central and South America are listed among the participants in Discursive Practices: The Formation of a Transnational Indigenous Poetics.

EXPERT ON GLOBAL POWER: Johns Hopkins sociologist Giovanni Arrighi, who studies global power, is due on campus next week to deliver a talk titled "From the Washington to the Beijing Consensus (and Beyond)," drawing on his work in his most recent book, Adam Smith in Beijing.

FRUIT AND VEGGIE HEALTH CLAIMS DISCUSSED: A daylong symposium is planned next week on health claims associated with fruit and vegetable consumption. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 15 at the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ.
