Staff Assembly and Campus Recreation are teaming up to present a summer softball league for men and women. If you are interested, you need to act fast — because the signup deadline is 5 p.m. today (June 26).
The softball league adds to Staff Assembly's lineup of Summer Fun. The staff organization previously announced group outings to Raging Waters (June 27), the Sacramento Monarchs (July 17) and the Oakland A's (Aug. 15). See details below.

Organizers said the league is "recreational" (open to all skill levels) and "co-rec" (meaning men and women play together). Teams must comprise 10 to 20 people, and each team must put three women on the field (this is different than regular intramural play, which requires five women on the field).
Staff, faculty and graduate students are eligible to play — as are their spouses and domestic partners. Participants do need intramural cards; however, photo identification is required (it does not need to be a university ID card).
Play is set to begin July 6, with all games taking place from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday on the Hutchison Intramural Field (west). Each team will play five games: four regular season games and one game against a like-ranked team.
A captains meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. July 1 in the intramural office at the Activities and Recreation Center.
To register, a team representative should go to the administrative office of the ARC (second floor) by 5 p.m. today (June 26). Then, starting at 11 a.m. June 29, payment of $30 per team is due at the Business Center on the ARC's first floor; the Business Center is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Rosters are due at time of registration, and at that time you also can rank day and time preferences for games.
Campus Rec also is running regular intramural softball this summer, plus Ulimate Frisbee.
For more information, call the intramural office, (530) 752-1730 or send an e-mail to Ben Dao, intramural sports coordinator, bddao@ucdavis.edu. Also check in with him if you want to play, but need assistance finding a team.
