The Retiree Center is taking reservations for the 2009 Steak Bake, for all emeriti, retired staff and their guests. This year’s event is set for June 6, with outgoing Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef and his wife, Rosalie, as honored guests.
Also, the Retirees Association is inviting new retirees to a June 15 reception. It is for anyone who has retired since last July, or who will retire before the end of June.
The Retiree Center started the Steak Bake three years ago, reviving a Faculty Club tradition from ºÙºÙÊÓƵ’ early days.
Here are the details for each event:
Steak Bake — 6-9:30 p.m. June 6, Rec Pool Lodge. Retirees will be doing the cooking, and the steaks will come from the ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Meat Lab. Side dishes will be from Sodexo. Tickets: $38 for Emeriti Association and Retirees Associations members and their guests, and $48 for nonmembers and their guests.
To make reservations, contact the Retiree Center at (530) 752-5182 or retireecenter@ucdavis.edu. Reservations are being taken on a first-come, first serve basis — and space is limited.
New Retirees Reception — 5-7 p.m. June 15, University Club, honoring all new retirees from the Davis and Sacramento campuses. Reservations can be arranged online, retireecenter.ucdavis.edu, or by contacting the Retiree Center at (530) 752-5182 or retireecenter@ucdavis.edu.
The Retiree Center announced that Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Enrique Lavernia will be on hand to congratulate the retirees. Also due to speak are Edward Callahan, associate dean for Academic Personnel in the School of Medicine, and Robert Chason, retired chief executive officer of the ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Health System.
The Retirees Association sponsors educational and social programs, provides information, and advocates on behalf of ºÙºÙÊÓƵ and UCDHS retirees. Membership information will be available at the reception.
