The 2009 Thank Goodness for Staff logo: "ºÙºÙÊÓƵ: 100 Years and Still Marching On!"
The prize-winning logo for TGFS 2009, by Holly Guenther, a designer for the Cowell Student Health Center. The entries for the 2010 logo will be on display at this year's TGFS Picnic, during which time you are invited to vote for your favorite.

The annual staff picnic is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 13 at a new location: Hutchison Field. Larry Vanderhoef, who is moving to emeritus status this summer, is scheduled to address the picnic crowd at 12:15 p.m.

Holding the picnic at Hutchison Field (as opposed to Shields Grove at the west end of the arborfetum) cuts down on transportation costs to get people to TGFS. Limited shuttle service will run from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. .

Most people are expected to walk or bike; however, if you are driving, you can park for free from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the fifth or sixth levels of the west entry garage adjacent to Hutchison Field. Free bike valet service will be available as well.

TGFS organizers said they will provide plenty of tents for shade, although you still might want to wear sunscreen, and you also might want to think about wearing a hat.

This year's TGFS lunch, prepared by campus food service provider Sodexo, leads off with two entrees (and you get your choice of one):

• Tender Grilled Tri-Tip Sandwich on Harvest Bakery Bread, served with choice of barbecue sauce or creamy bleu cheese sauce and caramelized onions on the side.

• Vegetarian Garden Black Bean Burger on Wheat Bun, served with Greek yogurt and veggie spread.

And you get all the sides: Molasses Baked Beans, Greek Salad and Traditional Potato Salad. Plus sodas and bottled water, and ice cream sandwiches.

The Cal Aggie Band-uh is scheduled to perform from noon to 12:15 p.m., and the TGFS Idol contest is set to run from 12:25 to 12:50 p.m.

TGFS also includes a vendor showcase, contest and a raffle . Unless you already purchased a space in , you are too late, as all spaces are sold

The is set for May 12, starting at 12:05 p.m. on the lawn north of the Activities and Recreation Center. The distances are five kilometers for the run and 1.5K for the walk. The registration fee is $4 until noon May 11 at the ARC Business Center (first floor), or $6 the day of the event, starting at 11:45 a.m.
