ºÙºÙÊÓƵ will host the opening ceremony and screening for the inaugural Davis Chinese Film Festival as the university celebrates Global Confucius Institute Day on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The Confucius Institute at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ — devoted to Chinese food and beverage culture — and the Davis Chinese Film Festival Foundation will show "Eat Drink Man Woman," a 1995 Academy Award nominee for best foreign-language film, at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.
Institute leadership at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ selected the film to show at the 10th anniversary celebration of the founding of the first Confucius Institute because of its luscious depiction of Chinese food culture.
Ning Wan, co-chair of the community film festival and a staff member of the Institute of Transportation Studies at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ, said the Confucius celebration and film festival are a good fit. "This festival aims to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people of China and the U.S."

It will be shown with English subtitles.

Combining the signature strengths of ºÙºÙÊÓƵ and China’s Jiangnan University as global leaders in food and beverage science and technology, the institute offers workshops, lectures and cultural events for the campus and the public.
