West end parking lot opens, TAPS relocates

Transportation and Parking Services made last Saturday's Picnic Day more than an open house. TAPS put on an "open garage" by officially opening the six-level, 1,522-space West Entry Parking Structure on Hutchison Drive.

"We were delighted to have it open for Picnic Day," said Cliff Contreras, TAPS director.

Work continues on the garage's three elevators, Contreras said; they should be running within a month. He noted that all the garage's disabled motorist spaces are on the first level.

The $30 million project includes a two-story building that became TAPS' home last week. The building is just north of the garage. To get to TAPS, park in a short-term space in the garage and follow the signs.
