‘WISE’ WOMEN: Chancellor Linda Katehi talked about engineering with more than 50 girls from four elementary schools at a Women in Science and Engineering event on April 24. The event was funded by an American Association of University Women grant to the Women's Resources and Research Center at UC Davis. Katehi, who holds faculty appointments in electrical and computer engineering and in women and gender studies, discussed basic electrical engineering concepts found in cell phones and how young women can prepare for careers in engineering. Her work in electronic circuit design has led to 16 U.S. patents and numerous awards. Katehi also recently chaired the National Academy of Sciences report on Engineering in K-12 Education.
